The
CM Gauge unit checks the shut height (135.78 mm) of the crimp machine. The
gauge is inserted into the crimp machine like a crimp applicator. The
measurement results is shown on the display immediately after machine
start. This result directly indicates in which direction, or by how many
µm the shut height of the crimp machine deviates from the nominal
dimension. During the press cycle, a suitable spring mechanism
incorporated within the gauge generates a load equivalent to the average
crimp force experienced during a termination. This ensures that the
measurements are taken under the same dynamic conditions as can be
expected during normal operation. The measured values are picked up by a
high-precision opto-electronic measuring device, and then processed by a
microprocessor system.
